Welcome to my #soaksunday week 7

aqua-bath-girl-alone

Hi Guys, and welcome to my 7th Soak Sunday post.

I’ve just arrived home from an awesome Disney Cruise to the Bahamas and I have to tell you I’ve been dreaming of my soak this week. Showers just don’t cut it after a long day in the sun. But there’s not much room in a ships stateroom for a bath, so I had to be content with quick showers to cool off at the end of the day.

Seashells_06

But now I’m home and I can pull out all my pamper products and just soak myself silly for a couple of hours. Yes really!

So I begin by setting the scene for total relaxation by first lighting one of my favorite bookish candles. These are made by the lovely Amanda at North Ave Candles etsy store I have never met one of her candles that I didn’t like. Every candle has a unique fragrance that you can easily identify, and a scent which lingers deliciously afterwards To me, there is nothing worse than a diluted scent, am I right? Well Amanda’s candles have a price point that is very affordable and I also LOVE the fact that she dispatches FAST! I am so tired of waiting four to six weeks for candle deliveries. It’s my pet peeve. Kindly pop over to her etsy store where you can sigh over all her lovely products. And she’s even given me a discount code to pass on to you: Use code BCC10 at checkout for 10% off your first order!

For this week’s soak I stuck completely with Lush products. They are my absolute favorites. There is so much choice. There is a bath product for every mood. I wanted something luxurious yet invigorating today, because all that lying around in the sun made me need a zing of something uplifting to wake me up and prepare me for stepping back into my real life.

IMG_5189

The cocktail I decided upon was a combination of Brightside  bubble bar along with some of my lemon macaroon style bubbleroon bar that I had left over. I didn’t go too crazy, but I topped it off with the Honey Bee bath bomb from the Lush Kitchen

IMG_5188

You have to take my word for it that this bath smelled intoxicating and my skin felt so wonderfully soft afterwards.

IMG_5190

I must be honest- the bath bomb…well, bombed! It didn’t do much at all. I wanted a show, a performance, and ‘plink, plink, fizzzzz. Never mind. It was a silent soak, and the nutrients and skin softeners still worked magnificently. Maybe I was expecting too much after all the Disney firework shows?

IMG_5191

The book I chose for this weeks’ bath and book, was by Jenny Han. I took her ‘Summer I turned pretty’ trilogy with me, as it was perfect summer beach reading material. I finished the last book on Sunday night. I love Jenny’s writing style. It’s so sweet and sassy in equal measures.

I hope you have had a lovely relaxing weekend too. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram posts for more #soaksunday pictures and I always post videos on my story.

Have a wonderful week. I will be popping up another post very soon.

Welcome to my #Soaksunday week 6

aqua-bath-girl-alone

I don’t know what has gotten into me lately, I think I have a touch of Spring fever. I’m organizing and cleaning, I’m laundering and sorting and falling back in love with my house all over again, even though we are still contemplating moving. Maybe it was the dark nights of winter finally passing, maybe its because the Florida heat is just right- not to hot and not too cold for me. Whatever the reason, I’m bouncing around with a big spring in my step right now. However, that is all well and good but that means that I am also throughly exhausted by the end of the day, and I’m so ready for a long soak in a hot bath.

IMG_3383

So while this is my #soaksunday post, I’ve actually been soaking all week! You see, to me, a morning shower is fine, but I am not personally a shower person. I’m in, washed, and out in less than ten minutes. It is to cleanse only. But I can stay in a bubble bath for the longest time -a couple of hours sometimes.

So this week it’s been morning showers and evening baths. I take my current read in with me (at present I’m reading the Gisha trilogy and loving it), a nice drink, (usually tea but I’m on a little health kick right now ready for my upcoming  Disney cruise in six weeks: EEK! So I’m overdosing on juices) and either play something relaxing on Amazon’s Alexa or watch a movie on my laptop by candle light. It really resets me.

This Sunday I used a combination of Lush products and a bath bomb by ‘All of the book things’ It was a lovely combination. I used ‘The Joy of Jelly’ shower jelly by Lush Kitchen, and ‘The comforter’ by Lush USA. It made for a lovely bath cocktail.

Once the water was really running I added the ‘Red as Dawn‘ bath bomb for a final flourish. It has a spicy dogwood and ginger scent, and gives a clean, perky scent, which is perfect for renewing your energy levels.

My read for today is the last of the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I’m reading ‘Ruin and Rising’ and it’s SO good. I cannot wait to see how it ends. I’m sure there are many more twists and turns to come. You can get your copy of this series ( starting with ‘Shadow and Bone’ from Amazon  You will not regret it!

Welcome to Week 5 of Soak Sunday.

Goodness what a busy weekend I’ve had!

Some back story: late last year we thought we’d found our dream house. It meant moving several hundred miles away, but we were willing to make a fresh start. It was an old Victorian painted lady and I had great plans for it. Anyway someone beat us to it and we decided to stay where we were, after all, we loved our home and hadn’t actually intended to move prior to falling in love with the Victoria when the details landed in my in-box..

aqua-bath-flower1

But you know how that goes- once you decide to move you suddenly can’t stop looking for properties. So we spent Saturday viewing model homes in this area. We found some great contenders and that put us in the right frame of mind to clear out the clutter in our lives ready for when we find the perfect place.

So Sunday was spent with us facing all our clutter and taking a trip to the garbage tip. Not fun but necessary! It was hard work and every muscle ached by the end of the day, but boy, what a satisfying feeling!

So to get to my point, I really needed a long soak to ease those exhausted muscles. I also needed an injection of energy too since it was only afternoon when we’d finished. So I chose a lovely bath cocktail with citrus notes, to both relax and invigorate me.

img_2385

I began with pouring some ‘Olive branch shower gel on the base of the bath, to start up the bubble process. Then I chose the ‘Refresher‘ shower jelly which I’d already prepared into cubes, and I mixed that with the ‘Ex Factor’ bath bomb (that little one with a stick figure in it) that I bought from the Lush Kitchen in the U.K (they ship to the U.S.A)…

Then I  added two other bathbomb’s for maximum impact – I chose ‘Fizzbanger‘  as seen above. This lovely fizzing bath bomb looks like lemon but is fun of the scent of cinnamon and apples. The colors are spectacular and I did not expect them! They were stunning.

Finally I added  ‘Yoga Bomb‘ which looks orange but has sandalwood, olibanum and ho wood oils encased inside.

This was even prettier! I wish I could share the scent with you. They were so delicious.

I set myself up with a lovely candle from ‘The melting Library’ (I think they are no longer in business sadly) and relaxed into the most delicious citrus scented bubble bath and settled down to read more of my new Diana Gabaldon book ‘Dragonfly in Amber’. It was the perfect end to a busy day. I think I was in there until the water went cold!

Finally I just want to remind you that Tuesday 28th Feb (tomorrow from this post) is the final day to enter my Beauty and the beast giveaway. You will find full details on my instagram feed. Remember you will earn two extra entries if you leave a comment on this blog (be sure to leave your instagram name here too) I will announce the winner by the weekend and will be giving details about my new Alice in Wonderland themed giveaway which is starting just a couple in just a couple of weeks! Kindly scroll back on here to see the prizes in glorious full detail too.

Have a great day. I’ll be back tomorrow with my ‘Outlander’ book review.

Welcome to Soak Sunday week three…

Welcome to the third week of my #soaksunday.aqua-bath-girl-alone

Since we were talking about contemporary YA books yesterday, I decided to feature this  book by Chelsea Sedoti. The book is called ‘The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett’. The synopsis reads:

img_1293

Hawthorn wasn’t trying to insert himself into a missing person’s investigation. Or maybe she was. But that’s only because Lizzie Lovett’s disappearance is the one fascinating mystery their sleepy town has ever had. Bad things don’t happen to popular girls like Lizzie Lovett, and Hawthorn is convinced she’ll turn up at any moment-, which means the time for speculation is now.

So Hawthorn comes up with her own theory for Lizzie’s disappearance. A theory way too absurd to take seriously…at first. The more Hawthorn talks, the more she believes. And what better way to collect evidence than to immerse herself in Lizzie’s life? Like getting a job at the diner where Lizzie worked and hanging out with Lizzie’s boyfriend. After all, it’s not as if he killed her- or did he?

aqua-grl-nitestand

This seems like a cute read, and perfect for curing my book hangover from ‘The Black Prism’ which I finally finished yesterday (oh wow you need to read Brent Weeks’ work)

So for this week’s feature, I used all Lush products. I started with a few lines of ‘Bubbly’ then crushed up yuzi and cocoa bubble bar, added some Refresher shower jelly and topped it off with a Cyanide Pill from Lush kitchen in the U.K. They ship worldwide and take pay pal.

img_1282

img_1287

It was delicious, and yes I remembered to heat up the water first this week, lol!

The cyanide pill fizzes SO LOUD. It all smelt so citrusy and fresh.

img_1284

My skin feels so soft now.

The ambience was provided by my Belle Leaky Candle (sorry can’t add link as they seem to have disappeared)

I’m all set up to start the week now. I feel fresh and cozy. I’m going to make a pot of chamomile tea and pop upstairs to watch my lovely husband while he lays the floor in my new ‘Library’ room. I’m so excited. All the walls are painted, the floor will be finished tonight and then I just need him to pop some new baseboards on and we will be ready to move in all my bookcases. I truly can’t wait!

Soak Sunday, week 2

Welcome to the second week of my #soaksunday . It’s so exciting!

I really enjoyed the feedback that I received on Instagram. Everyone was so positive about me starting this new tag.Thank you all so much. It’s such a relief to know that an idea I had to expand and enrich my feed has been so warmly welcomed.

aqua-bath-girl-alone   So my read for this week is ‘Wayfarer’ by Alexandra Bracken. This is the follow up to ‘Passenger” which I read last year and thoroughly enjoyed. Its a time hopping fantasy and I’m so happy that the wait for the next installment didn’t take too long.

So here is the synopsis, directly from Amazon since I haven’t finished it yet:

aqua-bath-flower1

Etta Spencer didn’t know she was a traveler until the day she emerged both miles and years from her home. Now, robbed of the powerful object that was her only hope of saving her mother, Etta finds herself stranded once more, cut off from Nicholas-the eighteenth century privateer she loves-and her natural time.

When Etta inadvertently stumbles into the heart of the Thorns, the renegade travelers who stole the astrolabe from her, she vows to finish what she started and destroy the astrolabe once and for all. Instead, she’s blindsided by a bombshell revelation from their leader, Henry Hemlock: he is her father. Suddenly questioning everything she’s been fighting for, Etta must choose a path, one that could transform her future.

Still devastated by Etta’s disappearance, Nicholas has enlisted the unlikely help of Sophia Ironwood and a cheeky mercenary-for-hire to track both her and the missing astrolabe down. But as the tremors of change to the timeline grow stronger and the stakes for recovering the astrolabe mount, they discover an ancient power far more frightening than the rival travelers currently locked in a battle for control. . . a power that threatens to eradicate the timeline altogether.

From colonial Nassau to New York City, San Francisco to Roman Carthage, imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, New York Times #1 best-selling author Alexandra Bracken charts a gorgeously detailed, thrilling course through time in this stunning conclusion to the Passenger series.

It sounds amazing right? I couldn’t put ‘Passenger’ down. All the twists and turns, the danger, the potential love interest…hmmm

aqua-grl-shampoo2

So to the bath itself.

I choose shades of lilac to match the gorgeous book cover as best as I could.

img_1010

I used a cocktail of products mainly by Lush cosmetics. I started with ‘the comforter‘ bubble bar, which I finely chopped on a cutting board. I added to that a few cubes of ‘93,000miles‘ Shower jelly, and topped it off with a large squeeze of Bath & Bodyworks‘Be Enchanted’ shower gel. Now it was my intention to add the final touch with a Lush ‘Twilight‘ bath bomb, but I realized that my bath had already bombed with no help, when I checked the water temperature…IT WAS COLD!!!! oh no….

aqua-bath-flower1Oh Yes….

You see my lovely husband has suddenly got into the fine habit of using a timer for our hot water system. Today it went off very early. Imagine my distress when I was anticipating stepping into this delicious bubble bath with a fine cocktail of gorgeous products designed to soften my skin and relax me; and then discovering that it wasn’t going to happen. Luckily I hadn’t sacrificed the bath bomb before I noticed.

img_1021I mean, there I was, my blueberry tea ready, my Anthology candle flickering with ambience, and it was not to be.

img_1019I love this darling ‘The Right Path’ mug by  Evie Seo   from Society 6. Do you think it makes my tea taste better?

img_1006

I just love flowers!

img_1005

this cocktail looks good enough to eat right?! I was in good company with my Sonny Angels flower collection dudes. They didn’t complain one bit.

aqua-grl-turban

Well, all was not lost, because I still have plenty more bath gel and bubble bar left for later. I’ll add the bath bomb video tomorrow when I’m sure the water will be hot.

img_1008But even though it didn’t all run exactly to plan, I had great fun playing around with the theme and setting it all up. Please let me know what you think.

Have a great day,

lots of love,

Sally f3
